Ivana Palunko, Iva Pozniak and Matej Jelaviฤ participated in the 16th Breaking the Surface (BtS) workshop, organized by FER, held in Biograd na Moru from September 29 to October 6, 2024.
Breaking the Surface is a summer workshop designed to foster interaction and knowledge exchange in the field of maritime robotics and its diverse applications. ๐ค Over the course of seven days, participants gained first-hand experience with the latest scientific research, technological advancements, and hands-on work with complex underwater systems.
โจDuring the event, the head of LARIAT Ivana Palunko gave a presentation titled “๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข-๐๐ ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ฆ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ,” focusing on how human activities are increasingly harming oceans. Ivana’s presentation showcased advanced technologies in machine learning and robotics as powerful tools to tackle these environmental challenges. By integrating state-of-the-art systems, we can develop innovative solutions for monitoring and preserving our marine ecosystems more effectively.
๐ SeaClear Project Tutorial
The SeaClear team led an engaging tutorial titled Stefan Sosnowski and Iva Pozniak kicked things off with an introductory presentation, followed by hands-on workshops. The core workshop, led by Stefan, Shahab Heshmati-Alamdari, and Jan Brรผdigam, focused on robotic marine litter collection, while Matej Jelaviฤ and Iva, highlighted recycling practices. They showcased how to transform plastic bottles into 3D-printed pendants and create artistic bracelets from single-use plastic items using the traditional kumihimo braiding technique. โป๏ธโจ
