Following extensive testing at Bistrina earlier this month, the Uvala Lapad demo showcased the systemโ€™s performance in a real coastal environment.

As part of the event, we were also delighted to welcome preschool children who visited the site beforehand. Their enthusiasm and curiosity brought additional energy and joy to the event, reminding us of the importance of inspiring the next generation about science, technology, and ocean protection. 🌱

During this period, the entire consortium worked together to test, validate, and fine-tune the integrated system in real-world conditions.

The week culminated on 8 June with a ๐“๐ž๐œ๐ก๐ง๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง, showcasing the full capabilities of the SeaClear 2.0 system and the progress achieved through close collaboration among all project partners.

These activities mark another important milestone towards developing advanced technologies for the detection, collection, and management of marine litter, contributing to healthier and more sustainable marine environments.

The theme of the 2026 Science Festival is ๐„๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ ๐ฒ, highlighting its importance in our everyday lives and future development. During the workshop, Dinka presented the principles of nuclear power plant operation, with special focus on key features of the Krลกko Nuclear Power Plant. Nora introduced the concept of photovoltaic voltage and explained how it is generated in solar cells.

Students then took part in a hands-on practical session, working with photovoltaic panels. They measured voltage changes as a function of the angle of incoming light, variations in radiation intensity, and the level of panel shading. Using multimeters and a lux meter, they recorded and analyzed their measurements, organized the data into tables, and created graphical representations of their results.

It was a valuable opportunity for students to connect theory with real-world applications of energy transformation.

This Thursday, LARIAT had the pleasure of welcoming a group of young visitors from Bologna โ€“ participants of Tomo Tournament.
Accompanied by their coaches and teachers, the students visited our lab, where team members Vicko, Ivana, Ante, Marin and Ivan introduced them to what LARIAT is all about, with a special focus on underwater, surface, and aerial robotics.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect sports, education, and innovation, and to inspire the next generation!

Students from 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade explored the fascinating world of autonomous robotics with the help of LARIAT team members Ivana, Vicko, and Ante.

Throughout the morning, they learned how robots work, tested their skills by operating a drone simulator, navigated an underwater robot on a mission to place a plastic bottle into a recycling bin, and discovered how drone thermal cameras function.

It was a day filled with curiosity, learning, and lots of fun!

Prof. dr. sc. Ivana Palunko participated in the panel and shared insights from the perspective of scientific work in robotics and automation. She highlighted the challenges of balancing professional and family life in academia.
